I volunteer for Monument Music and Arts Festival, a new start up organization. Every 2-3 months they host an event or benefit concert that couples a set of bands with an incredible cause of the musicians' choice. In the past year it has raised awareness - and $17,000 - for local nonprofits such as 826DC, We Are Family, Dreams for Kids, DC Greenworks and Citizen Effect.
This go round Monument presents Small Black, Outputmessage and Cigarette @ DC 9 on Thursday, August 11 & all of the proceeds will go to the Grassroots Reconciliation Group, a local DC non-profit.
