SPOTLIGHT: Rudimental

KAZAKY

Kazaky is an all male electro-pop group from the Ukraine!  Although I think the guys are hot as hell, I find it funny they dress in womens clothes and dance in stiletto heels in videos and live performances!  The vocals are horrible, broken english isn't cutee, and vogueing and pumping like madonna and Beyonce of the past!  Hilarious

About Trust me

"BETWEEN YOU AND ME IS A PLACE WHERE THERE IS NO SPECULATION, ALL LAWS AND LAWLESSNESS OF THE FREE MARKET NO LONGER OPERATE FOR A FRACTION OF A SECOND, FOR A NIGHT PERHAPS, YES PERHAPS EVEN A WHOLE NIGHT AND THIS NIGHT BELONGS TO US AND WE KNOW NOTHING ELSE, NOTHING AT ALL"

Economic crisis. Fluctuating global markets. Occupy. Facebook. This premiere dance/theatre performance with text by German playwright Falk Richter explores the effects of unstable Western idealism on the body and psyche. How can we navigate this complex system and truly find who we are? Trust me will pair dancers with actors, creating a rigorous performance score as challenging as the ideas themselves. Trust me is currently being developed in rehearsal and will be given a work-in-progress showing in June in Washington. Stay tuned for more details.

An Evening of Performance Art w/ Emily Francisco

516 1/2 8th St.  SE
Washington DC

Emily Francisco constructs situations that manifest in response to personal and physical understandings of limitation and loss. Her work is not destructive, though it involves deconstruction. She pushes the limits of how much an object can withstand, while exploring how things can transform.

Next Saturday, April 20, 7 – 8pm, Emily will host a series of performances.

The night will open with a classical cello performance featuring David Ross utilizing a bow that not only plays the instrument, but also sources a live radio feed. It will conclude with a performance with Emily playing a toy piano constructed in an enclosed space that will slowly flood.

Emily’s work is on view alongside pieces from Jenny Sawle and Ashleigh Werner for our April exhibit Pia Mater. Read more about the show: http://www.thefridgedc.com/portfolio/piamater/.

Singin'. Dancin'. Magic tricks. (does anybody know any?)

John Moletress joins Lady Dane for a Springtime cabaret of no particular thematic structure.

John: "Can the band pick up a song if I hum it?"
Dane: "Yes."
John: "Good, because I'm going to need Rihanna's Diamonds... in the key of LOW."

What you can expect:
High heels. Glitter. A top 40 hit. An operatic number. A long kiki. A great band.

What you may/may not get:
The right lyrics. Climate control. A story that makes sense. A spell done correctly. A general sense of ease.

$10 at the door.
