Happy New Year's

I would like to thank everyone for visiting the blog, I have a bunch of new things in the works for 2012.  Thank you for making my numbers go way up this year and supporting me and reading and watching and following me and the 202 around the city as we venture to new places and do new things.

I want to wish everyone of my readers and followers a Happy New Year, It's going to be 2012 start new, start fresh!  and my new quote of the year is, "let's get this done".  So See you all in the new year.

New Year Eve, How come we don't do this anymore!!??

Remembering when we brought in the 2000's way back in 1999.  Yes I remember standing on the National Mall between the Washington and Lincoln Memorials and watching the fireworks and bringing in the new year!  That was amazing, and That hasn't happened since 1999 when we brought in the new Millennium.  Can DC bring that back please?!  Paris does it with the Eiffel tower!  let's start our own celebrations in the nations capital.  Check out some pictures I found online to remember.

International Dining in DC: Chicken Out Rotisserie

I've been here a hundred times, but I thought I would tell the outside world who hasn't had the chance to try it, or even knows about Chicken Out!  This place is YUMMY Good, It's like a cleaner version of Boston Market and KFC.  Their food is to die for, and healthy as well!  They have it set up like a cafeteria/deli counter!  Choose from Wraps, whole chickens, sandwiches and salads.  They have really good sides to go with those and do catering as well!   Check out the website and the locations are mostly in Montgomery County, but there is one in DC in Spring Valley next to the AU law school along Massachusetts Ave.  NW.

I went to the Spring Valley location check out my pics of the interior which also has a large patio for warmer season.

I had a Ceasar Wrap
I had to eat some of the Mac & Cheese and there is some mashed sweet potatoes.

Movie Night at the Lincoln Theatre

The District government will announce today a plan to energize theLincoln Theatre with an (expected) blockbuster that will run for the next 4 weeks, the first such first-run movie to have premiered at the Lincoln in many years.
Landmark Theatres will sponsor The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,David Fincher's $150-million Hollywood adaption of the wildly popular book, one in a trilogy of novels by the late Swedish writer Stieg Larsson. In an effort to assist the city's efforts to animate the historic building, Landmark will donate all proceeds of ticket sales to the city. Screening will begin next Wednesday, the date of the film's release, with 3 screenings planned per day.
Mayor Vincent Gray and Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development Victor Hoskins plan to hold a press conference next week in advance of the opening. The 1,225-seat Lincoln Theatre is owned by the District, and has been under a management contract by the U Street Theatre Foundation (USTF). One month ago the District gave the D.C. Commission on Arts and Humanities oversight of the theater and announced it would look for other operators of the site to address the site's solvency after an emergency request by USTF for $500,000 to keep the theater operational, a shortfall that threatened to close the theater.

Landmark currently operates
E Street Cinema and Bethesda Row Cinema, as well as 61 other movie theaters nationwide, making it "the nation's largest theatre chain dedicated to exhibiting and marketing independent film." "We're pleased to help the city in its efforts to revitalize the Lincoln Theater" said Landmark CEO Ted Mundorff, who hoped the partnership would augur a more profitable future for the historic venue. Alan Zich of DCRE represented Landmark in the transaction.

Once a dignified theater, the Lincoln fell into disrepair and disuse after the widespread riots in 1968, finally shutting its doors in 1981. In the early '90s, the Lincoln was restored and reopened on a limited basis. In 2007 the Fenty administration attempted to resurrect the Lincoln by
letting developers compete to develop the back lot, now a parking lot, promising to earmark some of the sale proceeds for the theater, a proposal that was canceled when the District did not receive the proposal it expected.

International Dining in DC: District of Pi Pizza

910 F. ST  NW
Washington DC

I decided to try out a newly opened pizza joint downtown in the Penn Quarter!  I remember this area when these buildings were abandoned and the 930 club was over here!  HAHA.. was a difference of 15 years does.  So the interior is super spectaular!  It's old meets new pizza parlor!  the floor remembeds you of yeasteryear while the brick walls and mirrors and chandeliars are of todays chic worn look!  The staff is plentaful and knew the menu well she was a hoot!  the massive pizza joint didn't get to packed on the day we went, but I'm sure it does get packed!  Perfect spot for a large birthday party since there is a upstairs that looks on down below!  WOW yeah I know check out the pictures!  The pizza was very pie like (the crust) they really go to town on loading up these pizzas, they were really deep dish kind!  I give this place five stars out of five!   Great Job with the place.
