International Dining in DC: Sei

444 7th St.  NW
Washington DC

Wednesday Happy hour where am I?  Sei in the Penn Quarter.  Upon arriving I had planned on meeting a friend here for sushi, he said they have an awesome happy hour so I said what the hell, Ive been meaning to try this place.  First to arrive right at 5pm, when they open.  Large white tables and thick white leather chairs take over the decor of the dining room, the main attraction in this white wonderland are the ultra modern and very esquite Asian paintings hanging over you while you nibble on your Kobe beef or sushi.

Wow what a small selection of sushi, I was a little uneasy about ordering, and seeing the prices.  The menu had more pages for their Sake selection and wines then sushi!  Did I get the wrong menu?  After looking over the menu we decided on the happy hour special which was 6 rolls for 6 dollars and we splurged a bit with the surf'n'turf roll which  has a slice of Kobe and cost 17$  Whoa. so Yummy though it was worth it.  We also heard about the wasabi cocktail which taste a little spicy and summery with lemonade.  it was an OK drink.  we also had a 22$ bottle of organic sake.  FYI they only serve sake cold here.  The staff was great and our bartender was happy to explain, everything for us and show us whats the best.  I give this place *** 3 stars out of 5!
