Another event coniceding with the Cherry Blossom festival along the event routes is the Blessing of the Fleets at the Navy Memorial downtown in the Penn Quarter. right off the Navy Mem/National Archives Metro stop.

Navy Ceremonial Guardsmen pour water from the seven seas into the Memorial's fountains, charging them to life. Visitors can see exhibits and sample Navy Bean Soup prepared by Navy Culinary Specialists.
