Alma Tropicalia

2001 14th St.  NW
Washington DC

Alma Tropicália is the only band this side of Rio reimagining the psych-samba sounds of 60’s tropicália music from Brazil, a mind-bending mix of soulful funk grooves, day-glo psychedelia, and political ferocity that has quickly earned the young group ecstatic reviews and packed performances across the region. The band's daring lineup combines a masterful Brazilian vocalist with the unhinged energy of a punk-bred backing band, playing a mix of classic Brazilian psychedelic covers and originals.

Batalá Washington, an all-women Afro-Brazillian percussion band, empowers women through drumming & promotes Bahia's dynamic music & culture. Batalá's music, colorful costumes & energetic dancing, create a visual & auditory experience few forget!

Since 2003, D.C.-based music collective Fort Knox Five has been churning out their funk-infused global grooves. Their music has appeared in everything from video games to Academy Award-winning films As DJs, they know how to rock a party with infectious grooves that effortlessly move from funk, reggae, and hip-hop to prime time beats & breaks.

$10 Cover at Door. 21+. 8pm-10pm.
