Events for Inauguration weekend in DC!


The nation’s capital is set to get a heavy dose of glitz and glamour this weekend, courtesy of celebs flocking into town for the 57th Presidential Inauguration.
From movie stars to music chart-toppers, here’s where to rub elbows with the rich and famous:
 
SATURDAY, JANUARY 19
 
National Day of Service Summit
Eva Longoria and Chelsea Clinton will headline the National Day of Service, which encourages Americans across the country to volunteer in their communities. The event will honor the life and legacy of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. Other stars expected to participate include Yolanda Adams, Star Jones, Angela Bassett and Ben Folds.
 
Dubbed “the hottest party of the inaugural weekend” by organizers, Will.i.am and actor Tate Donovan will host this event at the Donald W. Reynolds Center for American Art and Portraiture. John Legend, T-Pain, Common and Jessica Alba are also scheduled to attend.
 
SUNDAY JANUARY 20
 
Music mogul Russell Simmons will be among the partiers, in addition to Rosario Dawson, La La Anthony, 2 Chainz, Doug E. Fresh, Swizz Beatz, MC Lyte, Eva Longoria, John Legend, Brandy,  Pharrell Williams, Jadakiss, Raheem DeVaughn, Lance Gross, 9th Wonder, DJ D-Nice, Wayne Brady, Meek Mill, Tank, Marsha Ambrosius, Charles “ROC” Dutton and more.
 
With a portion of the ball’s proceeds going to charities that give scholarships to HBCU students, “Saturday Night Live” alum Finesse Mitchell will host and R&B singer Vivian Green will perform.
 
Those in the environmental, clean technology and conservation communities will celebrate the inauguration with a green ball. Expected to attend: Peter Winter, Sheila E, Nicholas David of “The Voice,” Darryl Green, Lorenzo Alexander, Bill Nye the Science Guy, Antwaan Randle El, Derrick Dockery, Stephanie Miller, Tate Donovan, Les Stroud of “Survivorman,” Gina Gershon and more.
 
Celebrating Latino arts and culture, Eva Longoria will host this event featuring artists such as Antonio Banderas, Rosario Dawson, Raúl Esparza, José Feliciano, Juan Diego Flórez, Melanie Griffith, George Lopez, Mario Lopez, and Rita Moreno.
 
MONDAY JANUARY 21
 
Swearing in Ceremony
Big stars are on tap for the big day, including Beyoncé who will sing the national anthem. In addition, James Taylor will perform “America the Beautiful” and Kelly Clarkson “My Country ‘Tis of Thee” when Obama takes the oath of office.
 
Inaugural Balls and Kids’ Inaugural Concert
The celebrities keep coming with Katy Perry, Smokey Robinson, Usher, Alicia Keys, Brad Paisley, Jennifer Hudson, and Stevie Wonder all part of the stacked lineup performing at Obama’s official inaugural balls and Kids’ Inaugural Concert. Also performing are John Legend, Marc Anthony, Mindless Behavior, Nick Cannon, Far East Movement, Fun., Soundgarden, Chris Cornell, Jamie Foxx, and the cast of “Glee.”
 
The Creative Coalition's Inaugural Ball
The Creative Coalition, which advocates for greater funding of the arts in Washington, will host an inaugural ball at the Harman Center for the Arts and feature a performance by the Goo Goo Dolls. Also expected to hit the scene are Chelsea Handler, Kirsten Dunst, John Leguizamo, Paula Abdul, Omar Epps, David Arquette, Tim Daly of “Private Practice,” “Modern Family’s” Eric Stonestreet, Connie Britton of “Nashville,” Taraji P. Henson, Alfre Woodard, Melissa Leo, Alan Cumming, Ashley Greene, Giancarlo Esposito, Wayne Brady, John Galecki, Matt Bomer, Evan Handler, Marlon Wayans, and Lynn Whitfield.
 
Artists Making an Impact Cocktail Reception & Buffet Dinner
This cocktail party taking place at Oya restaurant will entertain the likes of Lena Dunham and Allison Williams of “Girls,” along with Chris Tucker, Alfre Woodard, Tatyana Ali, Malin Akerman, Sophia Bush, Lynn Whitfield, Jonathan Del Arco, Star Jones, Sandra Fluke, Al Sharpton, Jurnee Smollett, and Kate Walsh. 
 
Hosted by Planned Parenthood and Rock the Vote, alongside Alexis Bledel, Tatyana Ali, Aisha Tyler and Kate Walsh, the Plan to Rock! Party will feature a DJ set by Q-Tip, of A Tribe Called Quest fame. Also scheduled to perform is the band Delta Rae.
 
Held at the 9:30 Club, glitter fiend Ke$ha will be the headlining act and DJ Jazzy Jeff will provide the beats. The benefit is sponsored by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
 
Held at the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel, the Human Rights Campaign will host this event featuring singer Cyndi Lauper, E! anchor Ross Matthews, and Broadway stars Audra McDonald, Will Swenson and Frenchie Davis.
